Open to new opportunities

I help engineering teams ship calmly, not just quickly.

I'm Christopher Felker, an Engineering Manager & Scrum Master. I build the conditions, clear priorities, healthy process, real trust, that let good engineers do their best work without burning out.

About

Leading from the side, not the front.

I spent the first fifteen years of my career writing code: building enterprise software at Gainsco, scaling healthcare applications at Surgical Notes, and architecting SaaS integrations at AlphaTrust. Somewhere along the way, I realized the problems I found most interesting weren't in the codebase. They were in the room, unclear priorities, slow handoffs, engineers blocked on decisions that should have been made two weeks ago.

So I made the shift. As Scrum Master and then Engineering Manager at iPipeline, I got to put that instinct to work at scale: taking delivery performance from 65% to 95% across five product lines, cutting cycle time by 67%, and rebuilding a release cadence that had stalled for two years. The engineering background still matters. When I sit down with a team to talk about deployment risk or sprint flow, I'm not translating from a framework, I've lived it.

What's next for me is more of the same, done with more intention. I want to partner with organizations that are serious about Agile as a practice, not just a vocabulary, helping teams ship predictably, removing the friction that slows good engineers down, and building the kind of delivery culture where people actually want to come to the retro. If that sounds like your team, let's talk.

Skills

How I show up for a team

The day-to-day toolkit, part process, part people, part still-remembering-how-to-read-a-stack-trace.

Sc

Agile facilitation

Sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, estimation standards, and retros people actually want to attend, across teams at every maturity level.

Pp

People management

Hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, performance development, and career growth plans for onshore and offshore teams up to 15 engineers.

Rp

Release planning

Coordinating cross-functional delivery, forecasting release health, and building the predictable cadences that restore stakeholder confidence.

St

Stakeholder alignment

Jira dashboards, sprint metrics, and status reporting that give execs, PMs, and engineers a shared, honest view of progress and risk.

Tl

Technical fluency

.NET/C#, Vue.js/Node.js, SQL Server, REST/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML, and CI/CD delivery practices, enough to speak the engineer's language.

Cf

Conflict resolution

Surfacing disagreement early and turning it into better decisions, not silent resentment.

Mt

Metrics that matter

65% → 95% delivery performance across 5 product lines. Cycle time cut 67% (9 days → 3). $80K+ in AWS savings. Numbers that changed how the org operated, not just how it reported.

Mn

Mentorship

Growing junior and mid-level engineers into self-directed contributors who drive technical decisions without needing me in the room.

Experience

Where I've worked

25+ years spanning Agile transformation, engineering leadership, and hands-on software development across SaaS, healthcare technology, financial services, and enterprise software.

Engineering Manager 2024–2026
iPipeline, Inc., Wayne, PA

Drove release delivery performance from 65% to 95% across 5 product lines by overhauling sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Agile ceremonies. Scaled and directed onshore and offshore teams of 15 engineers, reduced cycle time by 67% (9 days → 3 days), restored a monthly release cadence after a 2-year gap, and cut annual AWS spend by over $80K through cloud optimization.

Scrum Master 2022–2024
iPipeline, Inc., Wayne, PA

Elevated Agile maturity across 3+ engineering teams by implementing sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement protocols, estimation standards, and iterative delivery practices. Established transparent delivery tracking through Jira dashboards and sprint metrics, strengthening team accountability and providing stakeholders with clear visibility into progress, risks, and milestones.

Senior Software Engineer 2018–2022
AlphaTrust, Dallas, TX

Architected and enhanced enterprise electronic signature and document workflow automation features within a SaaS platform processing millions of secure business transactions annually. Engineered REST/SOAP API integrations, optimized SQL Server data models, and mentored junior and mid-level engineers on maintainability and delivery excellence.

Senior Software Engineer 2012–2018
Surgical Notes, Inc., Dallas, TX

Designed and developed scalable software solutions addressing specific client requirements across the full SDLC, requirements gathering, application development, database design, production support, testing, and deployments, in a fast-moving healthcare technology environment.

Software Developer 2010–2012
Gainsco, Dallas, TX

Delivered enterprise software solutions, platform rewrites, internal tools, and scalable systems across financial services. Built a strong technical foundation spanning application development, database systems, system integrations, and full SDLC execution.
